A major financial institution needed to replace an existing supplier of mobile office work-stations which they imported from Europe. This mobile workstation, while common in Europe, was not available through local manufacturers. In addition the customer was driven by an environmental concern about the carbon footprint associated with shipping bulky office furniture from Europe.
By reverse engineering the mobile office work station Craftsman was able to deliver a locally produced product in a variety of new fun and engaging colours, in the small quantities required. This was accomplished at a lower overall cost using low formaldehyde materials.
As the work force expanded, production of additional units were ordered in small quantities, as needed, with a lead time of only 4 weeks.
